Origin and meaning
This sparsely populated township is located between the Gatineau River and Thirty-One Mile Lake. It has numerous bodies of water of fairly large size, such as Grand and Petit Lac Rond. Its name is in memory of Malcolm Cameron (1808-1876), born in Trois-Rivières to Scottish Presbyterian parents.

Moving early with his parents to Upper Canada, he began a career as a businessman, lumber merchant, and shipowner. First elected to the Legislative Assembly for Lanark in 1836, he served as a minister in the LaFontaine-Baldwin and Hincks-Morin governments from 1848 to 1854, during which years he consistently supported the temperance cause. He held the office of Queen's Printer in 1863 and was again elected to the Legislative Assembly in 1874.

He is considered the founder of the city of Sarnia, Ontario. Proclamation: 1854. See: Bouchette (municipality).

On trouve ce canton peu habité coincé entre la rivière Gatineau et le lac des Trente et Un Milles. Les plans d'eau y sont nombreux et d'assez grandes dimensions tels le Grand et le Petit lac Rond. Son nom a été attribué en mémoire de Malcolm Cameron (1808-1876), né à Trois-Rivières de parents presbytériens écossais.

Déménagé tôt avec ses parents dans le Haut-Canada, il entreprit une carrière d'homme d'affaires, marchand de bois et armateur. Élu député une première fois dans Lanark, en 1836, il devint ministre dans les gouvernements LaFontaine-Baldwin et Hincks-Morin de 1848 à 1854, années au cours desquelles il a constamment soutenu la cause de la tempérance. Il occupa la charge d'imprimeur de la reine en 1863 et fut de nouveau député en 1874.

On le considère comme le fondateur de la ville de Sarnia, en Ontario. Proclamation : 1854. Voir : Bouchette (municipalité).
