Origin and meaning

The name of the cadastral division, "R. Côte St-Pierre", appears on the seigneurial boundaries map 31 G, MER, 1983. It is one of the main divisions within the cadastre of the parish of Saint-André-Avellin, land systematically surveyed from 1834 and colonized between 1839 and 1845. The part of the old road crossing the "côte Saint-Pierre" also bore this name. The hamlet "Côte-Saint-Pierre" is found there. A post office of the same name was opened on December 1, 1871, and closed first on December 24, 1887. It was reopened on April 1, 1889, and closed permanently on December 31, 1941.

Le nom de la division cadastrale, « R. Côte St-Pierre », paraît sur la carte des limites seigneuriales 31 G, MER, 1983. Il fait partie des principales divisions à l'intérieur du cadastre de la paroisse de Saint-André-Avellin, terrain arpenté systématiquement à partir de 1834 et colonisé entre 1839 et 1845. La partie de l'ancienne route traversant la « côte Saint-Pierre » portait aussi ce nom. Le hameau « Côte-Saint-Pierre » s'y retrouve. Un bureau de poste du même nom a été ouvert le 1er décembre 1871, et fermé d'abord le 24 décembre 1887, pour être réouvert le 1er avril 1889, et fermé définitivement le 31 décembre 1941.
