Origin and meaning

This name, probably derived from an anthroponym, designates a hamlet in the township of Litchfield, in the Outaouais region, a short distance north of the Grand Calumet channel, 2 km southwest of the hamlet of Vinton and about 10 km southeast of the municipality of Fort-Coulonge and the Coulonge River. A post office, named Goldwin or Goldwin on the Bank, was in operation there from 1905 to 1914 and served this small town.

Ce nom, probablement dérivé d'un anthroponyme, désigne un hameau du canton de Litchfield, dans la région de l'Outaouais, à peu de distance au nord du chenal du Grand Calumet, à 2 km au sud-ouest du hameau de Vinton et à environ 10 km au sud-est de la municipalité de Fort-Coulonge et de la rivière Coulonge. Un bureau de poste, nommé Goldwin ou Goldwin on the Bank, y était en service de 1905 à 1914 et desservait cette petite agglomération.
