About sixty kilometers north of Hull, in the Outaouais region, this cantonal unit includes the territory of the municipality of the same name. Bounded to the west by the Gatineau River, the township is bathed by numerous bodies of water, including lakes Heney, Désormeaux, Bitobi, Northfield, Victoria, and Saint-Laurent. The first concession of lots, by letters patent, dates back to October 26, 1859. The name of the township of Northfield appears in 1861 on the map of the Government of Canada by Thomas Devine. Proclamation: 1861.
