Origin and meaning
This township is located north of the Canadian capital, on the left bank of the Ottawa River. Watered by several large lakes near its northern boundary, it is crossed from north to south by the Blanche River which flows into the Ottawa River. Between these two extreme points of the relief, the difference in altitude is approximately 270 m.

The large population is concentrated in Gatineau, Pointe-Gatineau and Templeton near the main watercourse; it then spreads out along the rural roads, clusters in the hamlets of Quinnville, Davidson Corner, the village of Perkins and finally borders the numerous lakes which water the northern half of this geographical area.

The name Templeton, borrowed from one of the villages of England located either in Devonshire or Berkshire, indicates that one or the other of these villages was the property of the Knights Templar, if not inhabited by them. In any case, the name appears on the Gale and Duberger map in 1795. Proclamation: 1807. See: Gatineau (city).

Proclamation : 1807. Voir : Gatineau (ville).
