Origin and meaning

This place name has designated a post office since 1871. It evokes the memory of the Marquis Emilio Visconti-Venosta (1829-1914), Italian diplomat and statesman, five times Minister of Foreign Affairs between 1863 and 1901. He notably negotiated the Convention of September 1864 concerning the evacuation of Rome by French troops.
